...the Iranian government is trying to shut down all practical formats of electronic communication in order to discourage political organizing/reporting. The way that they do so is by limiting bandwidth to a point where it’s virtually impossible to access the internet – users get timed out of websites or are faced to wait a year and a day for a site to load.It appears that the relatively inane simplicity of Twitter is defeating that tactic because of its simple format and 140 character limits. Essentially, the thing that I hate most about Twitter (it’s attempts to limit information and denigrate the English language by forcing people to use maligned acronyms and text speak) is actually working to dissident Iranians advantage.
