Animal Day

The Big Picture celebrates World Animal Day. I had never heard of this holiday before, but it's an excellent pretext for looking at pictures of animals.

Shoot

I finally purchased a digital SLR - the Canon Rebel XS. It feels hefty and looks fairly professional, so I feel like I'm already a 50% better photographer.

There are over 400 community gardens in New York City and my neighborhood, the East Village, has the highest concentration. Here are some photos from two of the larger gardens: The 12th Street Garden and El Jardin de Paradiso.
